Introducing Alysa by Compass Rose Wines

Alysa is crafted from an eclectic blend of Grenache, Syrah, old vine Carignane and a dollop of Viognier.
For years we have been fans of blended red wines from California. They are released at a good price, with plenty of rich fruit and character.
Our reservations come from the tendency to get that richness through high alcohol, rather than purity of fruit.
Then, after the first killer vintage or two, the label is sold and the quality downgraded.
At Compass Rose we are determined to create a wine with Alysa that starts full of fruit and character and stays true to that style year after year.
This delicious wine is packed with flavor, without too much alcohol.
Please enjoy with family, friends, and food.

Winemaker Kenny Likitprakong (biography at right) cut his winemaking teeth with Hallcrest Vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains. You may know his delicious and idiosyncratic Hobo and Folk Machine labels. Kenny brings a talent for finding and blending vineyard sources, along with a sure touch in the winery. He vinifies Alysa at his father's winery Healdsburg.
Bill Crawford's family has farmed Crawford Ranch in the benchlands east of Hopland for 40 years. Bill is known as an expert with Rhone varieties. He has dedicated a ten acre block of Grenache to the Alysa project.
Casey Hartlip arms mostly Rhone varieties at Eaglepoint Ranch, 1800 feet above the town of Talmage. The organically grown mountain fruit adds a density and complexity to our blend.
Greg Lolanis farms these 50-year-old Carignan vines in the Redwood Valley north of Ukiah. The vines are headpruned and organically cultivated. They add color, and a briary old vine character to Alysa.
